¿Qué es WHOIS?
WHOIS es un protocolo utilizado para consultar bases de datos que almacenan los usuarios registrados o asignatarios de recursos de Internet como direcciones IP, nombres de dominio y números de sistema autónomo.
Los registros WHOIS típicamente contienen el nombre e información de contacto de la organización que posee el bloque de direcciones IP, el rango de red asignado, fechas de registro y actualización, e información de contacto de abuso para reportar abusos de red.
Los Registros Regionales de Internet (RIR) como ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, AFRINIC y LACNIC mantienen bases de datos WHOIS para direcciones IP en sus respectivas regiones.
