Frequently Asked Questions
What is an IP address lookup?
An IP address lookup retrieves publicly available information about an IP address, including its approximate geographic location, the ISP or organization that owns it, the Autonomous System Number (ASN) it belongs to, and security flags like VPN or proxy detection. This data comes from MaxMind GeoIP databases and WHOIS records.
Can I look up my own IP address?
Yes. Visit the homepage to see your current IP address automatically detected, or enter it manually here. You can see everything that websites and online services can see about your IP, including your approximate location and ISP.
Is the geolocation data accurate?
Geolocation is very accurate at the country level (95%+) and reasonably accurate at the city level (50–80%). The data reflects where the ISP has registered its IP blocks, which may differ from the physical location of the device using that IP.
What is an ASN and how do I look it up?
An ASN (Autonomous System Number) identifies a network on the internet. You can enter an ASN in the format AS15169 or just the number (15169) in the search box above. The result page shows the network owner, all IP prefixes announced by that ASN, and recently observed IPs.
