How we collect, use, and protect your data

Last updated: April 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how IPMeu ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website. By using IPMeu, you agree to the terms described in this policy.

1 Information We Collect

When you use IPMeu, we automatically collect your IP address, approximate location, browser type, and ISP information for the purpose of providing our IP lookup service. We also store anonymized visit data (IP address, ASN, country) to improve our service and display network statistics.

  • IP address of the visitor (automatically detected for geolocation display)
  • Browser type, operating system, and referring URL (standard web server logs)
  • IP addresses entered into lookup forms (to retrieve and display information)
  • Cookies for language preference and session management

2 How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide IP geolocation services, generate aggregate network statistics, and improve the accuracy of our database. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

  • Provide geolocation, ISP, and network information for queried IP addresses
  • Improve service quality and analyze aggregate traffic patterns
  • Maintain site security and prevent abuse of the API

3 Cookies

We use essential cookies for language preferences and theme settings. If advertising is enabled, third-party ad networks may set additional cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings or our cookie consent banner.

We use strictly necessary cookies (language preference, dark/light theme, country selection) and optional analytics cookies. You can manage cookie preferences via the cookie consent banner.

4 Third-Party Services

We use third-party databases for geolocation data. If enabled, Google AdSense may display personalized ads. VPN affiliate links connect to third-party VPN providers. Each third-party service has its own privacy policy.

We use MaxMind GeoLite2 databases for IP geolocation. Data from WHOIS queries is fetched from public WHOIS servers (ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, AFRINIC, LACNIC). We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

5 Data Retention

Aggregate lookup statistics (without personal identifiers) are retained indefinitely to improve service quality. Server access logs are retained for up to 30 days. Individual IP lookup records used for statistical aggregation do not include personally identifiable information.

6 Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Under GDPR and similar regulations, you can request data portability or object to processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

  • Access: request a copy of data we hold about you
  • Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure: request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Objection: object to processing of your personal data

7 Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmission. However, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure.
